how did you initialy lost all that weight? (i saw a 'before' picture/post) just eating right and doing yoga or.. what? :)

Mostly because it’s in my metabolism, to be honest. That photo was taken when I was in 10th grade so that’s a little under 4 years ago or so. I lost the 11 lbs total over a span of time before I was a healthy eater and I hardly did Yoga back then. I started eating healthy about a year ago, actually. Here’s the whole story on how I lost weight, all unintentionally.I lived with my dad on weekdays and mom on weekends and my dads’ house was, and still is, always stocked up on junk and that’s all I ate. I had frozen pizzas and hot pockets for midnight snacks, and drank tons of juice boxes, and literally all I ate on Sundays was fast food and junk from the gas station. After moving out of my dads’ house and fully into my moms’, I still ate the same but I ate less and I lost 5 pounds. Then over a year ago when I was dealing with my stomach problems from January-or -so to the beginning of July, I was eating a lot less junk and I brought my own food to school sometimes, and then in July I saw an urgent care doctor who told me to go gluten and dairy free and I had no idea what to do, and I was in my less-hungry phase (I hope you all understand what I’m talking about when I say that haha) and I pretty much only ate salad for a week and that was just really bad and I accidentally lost 6 pounds. I’m not sure when I’d lost it, if it was over the months or because I was told not to eat all the stuff I was used to, but that’s how I lost it all.But if you are aiming to lose weight, then yes, that’s how you want to do it. Boil water advisory for Carp village communal well users lifted

Water from the Carp communal well water system is now safe to drink. Ottawa Public Health has lifted the boil water advisory and residents can now resume regular water usage.The pressure in the Carp village communal well system which supplies water to approximately 1800 residents has been fully restored and water sample results indicate the water is safe for all consumption purposes.Distribution of bottled water and non-potable water for sanitation has ended. As well, shower facilities at Carp Fairgrounds, Goulbourn Recreation Centre, Kanata Leisure Centre and the Richmond Arena have now closed.It is important to note that water system repairs such as flushing activities can disturb sediments that are often present in watermain pipes. This may result in reddish brown or yellow coloured tap water, but discoloured water is not harmful. Residents are advised to run a cold water tap for five minutes upon first use.Residents on the communal well system do not need to get their water tested.Additional information is available at ottawa.ca, by calling 3-1-1 or Ottawa Public Health at 613-580-6744. OSLO (Reuters) - Vietnam, Laos and Mozambique are the countries that do the least to crack down on an illegal trade in animal parts that is threatening the survival of elephants, rhinos and tigers, the WWF conservation group said on Monday. NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Teens who play a couple of team sports and walk or bike to school are less likely to be overweight or Obese, says a new study. Researchers found that of more than 1,700 teens, those who played on at least two sports teams per year were 73 percent less likely to be overweight or obese than those who did not. Those who walked or biked to school four to five times per week were 67 percent less likely to have weight problems. The findings, however, can't prove those activities prevented the weight problems, or whether something else could explain the link. ... read more..

How to Stop Cravings and Control Your Diet

Determine what you’re really hungry for.
The next time you get a craving, ask yourself if you’re stressed, sad, or bored. If so, you may be eating to fill an emotional void. Keep a “desire diary” for a week or more, and note your mood whenever you’re hit by an irresistible urge to chow down. If stress is your trigger, exercise more to relieve the pressure. If loneliness drives you to the Doritos bag, call someone. Remember that true hunger is easy to satisfy; any food will do.Emotional hungerOn the other hand, often manifests itself in desires for specific things like ice cream and fast food.
Get off the energy roller coaster.
A second big cause of ravenous cravings is a diet that’s too full of refined carbohydrates, which can produce drops in blood sugar that prompt hunger. If you have a doughnut for breakfast, you’ll get a nice jolt of energy from the sugar and simple carbs, but by mid-morning, you’ll be craving more. To stabilize blood sugar and appetite, start eating more protein and fiber. Tomorrow, try eggs and whole wheat toast for breakfast or a bowl of fiber-rich cereal with nuts, and see how easily you make it to lunch.
Many people think they’re hungry when they’re actually thirsty. Drink a glass of water and wait a few minutes to see if your craving subsides.
Distract yourself.
Taste buds have a very short attention span. Pop a mint, brush your teeth, check e-mail, call a friend, or take a walk. In many cases, you’ll find you weren’t really hungry. read more..

Pineapple

I just had frozen pineapple blended with pineapple, orange, banana juice and now the front sides of...

I just had frozen pineapple blended with pineapple, orange, banana juice and now the front sides of my tongue feel weird and kinda have a weird burn. And my tongue kinda looks a tiny bit weird in that spot, too. It feels really weird right now when I chew my trail mix. I’ve had sort of weird problems like this using pineapple before. But I can eat pineapple just fine. Like I had it on salad yesterday. Weird.It’s 104 degrees outside and 86 in my room. My wall cooler is on and the fan on the other side of the room is on (I have a long room and only half is for my room stuff and other half is dining table with no door just a door way to the kitchen and it’s not insulated) but I feel a bit cold when the fan above me is on. Not really cold, I just don’t like the breeze I guess. I mean, it’s warm in here but I’m content… for now. It’s July. Thankfully we only live here another few weeks and then I’ll have a normal room with a nice air conditioning. Even if I had the window unit in when we move, it’d be fine in my room but I would never be able to open my window. At my grandparents’s house, they have a swamp cooler in their living room and it’s not all that bad in their house in the summer. It’s just not 65 degrees, which is fine. But I had a wall cooler in my room there and it’d literally be 50 degrees in my room. I loved it. Okay anyway… how did this post get so long. This is the 2nd time I’ve done this today, the other time on my personal blog.I’ll leave on this last note(s)…. I’m lounging around in running shorts and the underwear part of them is squeezing my buns and it’s weird. Am I supposed to wear underwear with these? I am, in cause you were wondering. I’m going to finally get around to editing my smoothie photos now. Tomorrow I am officially on my moms car insurance stuff so I can drive the car to the gym. So now I can return to looking like a weak lost fool in there. read more..

Of course, I’m glad to hear that it helps (: Just doing ab workouts won’t get you where you want to be. The way you eat matters a ton. An overall healthy lifestyle, really, is where you want to be. I’m sure you want abs for the summer, so here is my advice to you.Eat a mostly healthy diet, if you don’t already. Plenty of fruits and veggies, plenty of healthy fats and lean protein, plenty of water and it is okay to treat yourself, so have chocolate or a slice of cake if you please. I have healthy eating tips in the FAQ>Healthy eating for beginners. Second, your workout. Cardio + strength. Try warming up with cardio for 15-20 minutes. 10 if you’d like. It’s all up to you. Run, jog, bike, roller blade, swim, jump rope. For strength, your focus is your abs so always switch up your ab routine, and do a lot but not too many. If you don’t push your body, you won’t make improvements. The more you do push your body, the more progress that you make overall. Try doing 15-20 minutes, and if you don’t feel good about it, try another 10. Do a plank/forearm plank for as long as you can, bicycle crunches, reverse bicycle crunches, basic crunches, elevated crunches (I like to lay on my bed with legs down and my upper back sticking off enough for it to give me a workout, and do crunches that way), crunches with your legs up against a wall or on a chair, leg lifts (full or just a couple of inches to a foot off of the ground), Russian crunches, etc. I have ab workouts in the Index>workouts so you might find some good stuff in there! I also like hoola hooping because your core muscles are contracting as you move around and it’s fun. read more..

I think encouragement and motivation comes differently from each individual, and feeling good about yourself comes from within your own mindset. It’s really easy for us to see our flaws and what we think we are doing wrong, but when you see how great you are, how far you have come, how hard you are trying (even if it’s only what you see as ever so slightly), that beats every downside that you see. I want you to try and see that. For one, you are trying. That matters. A lot of people say they want to be healthier or say they want to lose weight, and don’t act on that. You have put yourself into action and you can’t stop just because you are feeling down about yourself. Look into the mirror and see how great you are. See how far you have come. If you’ve lost weight since starting your journey, you have to convince your brain that you can see it. It’s hard to see your own change, which is why I suggest taking progress photos to compare your own before and after, and it’s important not to compare yourself with another. Think about how good you’ll feel after a tough work out, think about how tasty your healthy meal will taste afterwards. Think about how much happier you will be, how much more fit and in shape how you will be, how much easier it will be to do things when you’re healthy, like run, ride a bike, climb stairs. Note how I said healthier, and not when you lose more weight. I know that you want to lose weight. There is nothing wrong with that and it will naturally come along with being healthier. But think about how nice being healthy really is. Sure, it’s harder to do things when you weigh more, but that doesn’t mean that it’s easy for unhealthy people who are more thin. Being healthy has the advantage. It enables your body to do more, to be stronger, to be happier. I don’t know how anyone can not want and strive for that! It’s an amazing feeling. Again, even if only a little. I have small, weak muscles but I feel strong and great carrying a bunch of heavy bags. I have that mindset that I am strong and will only get stronger, and I want you to have that mindset that you are great and will only get greater, at whatever you want to feel so great at.      You just need to put yourself into that mindset. That get ready, get set, go… not, the get ready, get set, I can’t do it. Drag yourself to the gym, force yourself to go outside to take a walk, or a jog, or roller blade, or anything. Take yourself to the super market with a grocery list of your favorite healthy foods, stock up on fresh fruits and veggies, and maybe your favorite thing to treat yourself to. Make smoothies, make juice, melt at how delicious this good food is. Get started. Feel happy and great about yourself and your choices, feel good when you’re doing it. Feel super good. Seriously. This stuff is tough, I know. But you’re mindset is going to go from needing encouragement and feeling low, to feeling fantastic!     Okay when you read this I want you to get a piece of paper out, get a pen, physically write down the positives, and tack it up on the wall somewhere that you will see it often.  Write how much you love yourself, on the inside and out. Write down how much people, like me, KNOW that you can do it and that we are all proud of how far you have come, and how far you will go. Write a short encouraging quote on your bathroom mirror. And write down your favorite activities. If you’re having fun while staying active, you’ll feel a ton better, as well.      When first trying to reply to this, I was kind of stuck. I didn’t know entirely what to say. But I really hope that this helps. For you, and anyone else who’s stuck and reads through this. read more..

fitvillains:Vanity Pounds: The last 5-20lbs you want to lose, NOT because your body’s unhealthy, but because you want to look a certain way.Health & Vanity are two different things. I’m not judging you for your vanity pounds, I don’t like mine either. But they are NOT to be confused with healthy pounds or healthy weight loss.The problem with vanity pounds: everyone’s body is healthy at a certain point (mine is healthy within 10-15lbs+ of where I am, and within 5lbs-). The body LIKES being there. It’s not stressed about where it’s energy is coming from, it’s getting exercise, nutrients, sleep, love and it’s happy, happy, happy.BUT… if it feels threatened with unhealthy behaviors (eating too little, ahem, -1000 calorie eaters or exercising too much (making too big of a deficit), it will enter starvation mode and start to release hormones, cortisol and other bo-chemistry weapons to preserve the energy and SAVE itself from YOU. It is possible to lose those vanity pounds... but you need to do it healthily. Your body needs to feel nice & taken care of so that it doesn’t MIND losing an extra 5 or 10. If it’s not FREAKED OUT that you’re trying to starve it, it doesn’t release those hormones or signal your metabolism to slow down. It knows it’s okay. Those last 5-10lbs will take longer to lose, so relax & give yourself time to get there, okay? You already know how the story goes the other way, don’t you? Gain, lose, gain, lose, gain, lose….This is how body love works for weight loss: You love your body. It loves you back. You HATE your body? Well, it will fight you with everything it’s got. And guess what? In the end, your body will WIN. It’s one tough mother f*cker.So, those of you who are having trouble with those last 5-10lbs: relax. Slow down. Eat well & amp up your exercise INTENSITY, but don’t exercise MORE. Lowering your calories too drastically, or exercising too much (more than 5-6 days/week for an hour): this will break down your body, not give you enough recovery time, release hormones and NOT get you where you wanna go.
